It was a lovely visit. From start to finish(minus the huge speeding ticket) Portland was full of charm and hospitality. The mister, myself and our dog Tuula, stayed at the ultra cool Ace Hotel. We chose this spot because it is dog friendly and found it pretty human friendly too, although we couldn't get much interaction from the staff or the hoards of guests crowding the lobby. We ventured out into the Pearl district and found a gorgeous little place called Kask where we found an awesome cocktail list and the most decadent meat and bread nibbles. The staff made us feel right at home filling us with warmth and  fun chatter. We then headed into the chilly air for some more spirits and edibles, making our way to the other side of the river into what the locals called north portland.
We made our way into Mint 8/20 where I found myself drinking something called the spanish armada(patron XO tequila, cream and nutmeg served up) it was like the best tasting iced coffee with a feel good buzz. Also tried their avocado daiquiri...Yup, avocado. It was interesting and quickly loosened me up even more so. Next, we were off to The Liberty Glass. My husband promised me a fun, quirky old victorian that served food late and was different. He had stumbled into it on a past business visit to Portland and swore he would take me. Alas, after walking in the dark through an underpass and past a lot of vacant lots we made it to The Liberty Glass. Funky, pink, and full of life. The waitress was the sweetest, sweetheart sharing her funny day experiences and quickly brought out the most comforting and delicious feel good dishes along with some cold cold beer. A must have while at the liberty glass, is the mac and cheese and if they have tomato soup on the menu, do not hesitate to order it. To die for.
