I love pasta and I love making my own sauce just as much. During the summer, my husband canned a lot of tomatoes which I've used in pasta dishes. I often make a quick and simple tomato sauces as a staple to a lot of different pasta dishes. Here's one of the simplest sauces I make.
Quick and easy tomato sauce
what you need:
-3 cloves garlic, minced
-2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
-1 teaspoon of red pepper flakes
-a pinch of salt
-1 14-ounce can of crushed tomatoes
-2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
-1 teaspoon of red pepper flakes
-a pinch of salt
-1 14-ounce can of crushed tomatoes
(I like to add herbs like basil, oregano and thyme but you can leave those out if you wish)
what to do:
Stir the garlic, olive oil, red pepper flakes, and salt together in a small, cold saucepan. Turn the heat to medium-high and cook until the garlic starts to sizzle just a bit. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, bring to a simmer, cook the sauce down a bit, 10 minutes or so, then remove from heat.
